4 shops burgled in Mendhar town

POONCH, May 7: Four shops were burgled by some unknown thieves in Mendhar town’s main market during last night.
Report said that thieves broke open four shops in Bus Stand area of main market in Mendhar town last night and decamped with thousands of rupees in cash and grocery items. Shop owners- Sanjay Kumar, Shoukat Ali, Tufail Ahmed and Bansi Lal said that when they reached to open the shop in the morning, they saw that the locks were broken. The theft incident has been captured on CCTV cameras as well, they said.
The matter was reported to police and a police party from Mendhar Police Station reached the spot. They examined the spot of incident and started investigation. Police team also watched the CCTV footage and assured that thieves will be nabbed shortly.
People questioned the police functioning and said that the theft incident has occurred in the middle of the main market, which shows that there was no police patrolling in the market during night. It raises point on the police functioning in the town.
The traders alleged that theft incidents have increased in the area and the police failed to contain the same. They sought the intervention of SSP Poonch into the matter.
