4 shops, house gutted

JAMMU, July 19: A devastating blaze reduced four shops and a residential house to ashes in Shaheedhi Road, Main Market of Kishtwar town in early hours of this morning.

Reports said fired started from RC Electronics at 4.30 am and spread to four adjacent shops and a house within minutes as the shops were made of wooden. The family members of three brothers, Jugal Sharma, Rakesh Sharma and Rajesh Sharma and their family members had a narrow escape in the fire.

Three local fire fight vehicles and a number of others from NHPC, 17 Rashtriya Rifles besides PHE tankers four for nearly three hours to control sky rocketing flames.

However, by that time all four shops including RC Electronics, Jyoti Motor Garage, Aarti Hardware and Ram Rattan Sharma Wool Store besides a small plastic shop of three brothers were gutted in the fire.

Short circuit in RC Electronics was stated to be reason behind the fire. However, police have registered a case for investigations.

DySP Kulbir Singh and ACR Rajesh Swain reached the spot this morning. DC Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad, who was out of station, visited the spot this evening. The people urged the DC to provide relief to the house owner and shopkeepers, who have lost their everything in the fire.

The DC assured to take up the matter with the Government.
