4 smugglers arrested with poppy straw, cannabis

RAMBAN, Jan 12: Four drug peddlers have been arrested with large quantity of poppy straw and cannabis.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka near T-Chowk and intercepted three persons, who were moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police recovered 42.5 kilograms from the possession of three persons and arrested them, who have been identified as Satpal Singh, son of Teja Singh, Mandir Singh, son of Joginder Singh and Gurjeet Singh, son of Jarnail Singh, all residents of Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 4/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Aijaz Ahmed Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajjad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Ramban Police Station laid a naka on Kundi-Karol road and intercepted a Maruti Van bearing registration number JK03G-0798.
During frisking, police recovered 8 kilograms of cannabis from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Sajad Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of District Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 13/19 under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal made the arrest under supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
