UDHAMPUR, May 1: Police today seized four vehicles involved in illegal transportation of construction material under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station.
A Police team headed by SHO Udhampur, Inspector Chaman Gorkha seized three tippers having registration numbers JK02BB-4055, JK02AJ-7588 and JK 02BB-5156, which were indulged in illegal mining and transportation of construction material.
In another instance, the police party of PP Roundomail, led by Incharge PP, Akhilesh Khajuria, seized a Tractor Trolley having registration numbers JK14H-8361, involved in illegal extraction/transporting of construction material from river bed.
All the four vehicles were seized and handed over to the officials of Geological and Mining Department Udhampur for further legal proceedings, said Addl SP Udhampur, Anwar Ul Haq.
During the current year, Udhampur Police seized 34 vehicles involved in illegal mining which were handed over to DMO Geology and Mining Department. Out of these 34 vehicles, 29 vehicles were released by the Geology and Mining Department after compounding by an amount of Rs 6, 81,333.
