4 vehicles seized, 39 challaned for violations

RAJOURI, Dec 14: In a concerted effort to promote road safety and ensure adherence to traffic regulations, the Transport Department of Rajouri has launched an intensified enforcement campaign.
On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, multiple road safety drives have been conducted across the district to address traffic violations and ensure compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act.
A road safety operation was carried out on Sunderbani-Thandapani section of the National Highway, where 50 vehicles were checked. As a result, 18 violators were issued e-challans, with a recovery of Rs 28,000. Additionally, 2 vehicles were seized and are now in the custody of the local police station.
Another latest operation, led by the ARTO Rajouri, Pawan Sharma, focused on the Muradpur stretch of the Rajouri-Poonch highway. During the drive, 60 vehicles were inspected for compliance with road safety norms. A total of 21 violators were issued e-challans, amounting to Rs 75,000. Two vehicles were seized due to severe violations of the Act. The total challan amount across both operations is Rs 1,03,000.
Emphasizing the significance of these drives, DC Rajouri highlighted the importance of following traffic laws to reduce road accidents and enhance public safety. Taking proactive action to control accidents, he has directed the enforcement teams to increase vigilance and impose stricter penalties on repeat offenders.
