4 vehicles with 16 bovines seized

UDHAMPUR, Jan 14: The Police seized four vehicles and rescued 16 bovine animals near Chenani today.
Official sources said that based on a reliable information regarding smuggling of bovine animals, a police party of Police Station Chenani, led by SI Sanjeet Sharma, SHO PS Chenani under the supervision of Santokh Raj, SDPO Chenani laid a naka on NH for frequent checking of vehicles. During checking, four vehicles two Mahindra trucks and two Tata Mobiles bearing registration Nos. JK20A-3489, JK19-5919, JK21A-1338 and JK02BW-5086, were stopped for checking.
Instead of stopping the vehicles, drivers of all four speed up their vehicles in rash and negligent manner endangering the human lives, broke the police barriers and attempted to flee from the spot with their vehicles. The vehicles were chased by the Police Party and were intercepted at Motor Shed, Chenani. The driver of Tata mobile bearing registration No. JK02BW 5086 namely Talib Hussain, son of Mohd Hanief of Batroo, District Ramban was arrested on spot and other three accused drivers fled away from the spot taking the advantage of darkness.
During the checking of all four vehicles, 16 bovine animals were found illegally and cruelly loaded. All the bovine animals were rescued and vehicles seized.
In this regard, four cases under FIR Nos 06, 07, 08, 09 of 2019 U/S 279/336/188 RPC, 3PCA Act stands registered in Police Station Chenani and further investigation of the cases is going on.
