4-year-old killed in hit and run case, accused arrested

JAMMU, Oct 5: A 4-year-old girl killed today in a hit and run case in Akhnoor area but the alert and active Akhnoor police solved the case in a shortest possible time by arresting the accused.
“Today one girl child namely Gudia daughter of Mukesh Kumar, resident of Karangi (Aknoor), received serious injuries when a speeding unidentified motorcycle hit her near Krishna Palace, Balle da Bagh, Akhnoor at around 9:15 AM and the rider fled from the spot leaving the girl injured,” a police official said.
He said that the injured girl was shifted to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Later, upon receiving the information, SDPO Akhnoor, Deputy SP Ajay Sharma and SHO Akhnoor, Inspector Pardeep Sharma reached the spot, started investigation, collected the material evidences, analysed other available clues and launched a hectic and strenuous efforts to trace the vehicle and its rider.
Finally, the police got success in tracing the motorist and the accidental motorcycle number JK02AG-0319, which was sold to 5 owners but professional approach of Akhnoor police led to the real owner namely Sonu Kumar, son of Ramesh Kumar, resident of Dhounchak, Jourian.
The police has seized the motorcycle and arrested the accused rider. A case FIR number 228/2019 under Section 304 RPC stands registered in this connection at police station Akhnoor.
The swift and responsive efforts of police to trace the blind hit and run case within shortest possible time have been the mile stone. This is second blind hit and run case involving loss of precious human life in last one month solved by Akhnoor police.
The efforts were made under the supervision of SP Rural Suram Singh and SSP Jammu, Tajinder Singh.
