4 yrs RI in abetment to suicide case

JAMMU, Dec 3: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, RS Jain today awarded four years Rigorous Imprisonment and fine of Rs 5,000 in abetment to suicide case.
According to the police case, on September 4, 2011 a docket was received by Police Station Pacca Danga that on August 20, 2011 one girl Amanpreet Kour, daughter of Ravinder Singh of Jullaka Mohala was found dead at her residence.
Accordingly proceedings under Section 174 CrPC were started and during investigation it came to the fore that Amanpreet Kour was being harassed by Sonal Gondhi and another person and being fed by the constant harassment Amanpreet Kour committed suicide by hanging herself.
After hearing both the sides, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “the accused by his conduct instigated Amanpreet Kour to end her life in a horrific manner. Such like crimes are affront to the human dignity. The crime is not only against the victim and her family, it is against the whole society as well”.
Accordingly, the court awarded four years imprisonment and fine of Rs 5000 under Section 306 RPC to Sonal Gondhi.
