40 detained for double murder

JAMMU, Sept 15: Police have detained around 40 people for questioning in connection with the double murder case at Talab Tillo area.

The CCTV cameras of the area are also being analysed by the investigating team to ensure the arrest of the accused soon.
“We’ve arrested around 30-40 people, including drivers and cleaners, for questioning in connection with the murder case. The CCTV cameras are also being screened. But a breakthrough is still awaited,” said a police officer part of the investigation team.
He said the post-mortem of the deceased was conducted around 2 pm today after which the bodies were handed over to their legal heirs for cremation.
The police official further said that the family members of the deceased will also be quizzed tomorrow as part of the ongoing investigation.
Pertinently, Sanjay Kumar Chandel, a retired DIET Principal, and his wife Veena Devi, were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their Manorama Lane, Talab Tillo-based residence around 5:30 pm yesterday, following which police team led by senior police officers reached at the spot and started investigation into the matter.
Relatives of the deceased, who spotted the bodies first, claimed that there were marks on the bodies.
