UDHAMPUR, July 14: Continuing its drive against drug peddlers, Police Party of Police Station Chenani today apprehended narcotic smuggler and seized more than 40 kgs of poppy straw from his possession.
The poppy straw was being smuggled in a truck, bearing registration number PB10CU-8563, which was on way from Srinagar to Punjab and intercepted during routine checking at Naka point Motorshed Chenani.
During the checking, 40.57 kgs of poppy straw was recovered from the truck. Police seized the recovered poppy straw and arrested the truck driver, identified as Nirmal Singh, son of Amarjeet Singh of village Khumna, Tehsil Amloh, District Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab).
In this connection, case FIR number 83/2020, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Chenani Police Station.
