Over 4000 turn up for Army recruitment rally

Srinagar, May 19: Army today said over 4000 candidates turned up for Territorial Army recruitment rally in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
A Defence spokesman said the three day long rally of recruitment in Territorial Army commenced at Panzam garrison for aspirants of Kupwara, Kralpora, Tregam, Machal, Sogam, Lalpura and Drugmulla Tehsils for whom physical tests were conducted.
“Physical tests for the aspirants hailing from Karnah, Keran, Handwara, Langate, Vilgam and Taradhpora Tehsils will be on May 20 while the candidates from Bandipora district will go through these tests on May 21,” he said.
The spokesman said intelligence test; trade test and interviews for candidates who are successful in physical tests will be conducted on May 22 and 23. “A total of 55 vacancies exist out of which 52 vacancies are for soldier (General Duty) (Class X min 45% overall marks and 33% marks in each subject), one for washerman (Simple X Pass) and two for Clerk (SD) (Class XII min 50% overall marks and 40% marks in each subject),” he added.
While recruitment for Soldier (General Duty) is open only for Kupwara region, tradesman and Clerk vacancies are open to entire J&K (less Kathua and Samba Districts), said the spokesman.
