UDHAMPUR, Apr 25: Police today foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 41 animals besides arresting five smugglers during naka checking at Motorshed, near Chenani on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
These bovine animals were being smuggled in five vehicles, which were intercepted by a police party of Police Station Chenani, led by SHO, Insp Charanjeet Singh, under the supervision of Ahmed Shafi, SDPO Chenani.
Police rescued all the bovine animals and arrested the smugglers, identified as Sameer Hussain, son of Manzoor Hussain of Rakh Badali, Udhampur; Shukur Din, son of Gani of Pathwar, Majalta; Shakeel Ahmed, son of Nawab Din of Rathian, Udhampur, Shakeel Ahmed son of Abdul Gani of Banihal, Ramban and Saddam Hussain son of Sajjad Hussain of Village Kheri, Udhampur.
The vehicles involved in smuggling, bearing registration number JK14G- 3881, JK21G- 1401, JK14F- 1758, JK19 -6938, JK14D- 9987 were also seized and a case in this connection was registered under section 188 IPC, 11PCA Act at PS Chenani.
