42 bovine animals rescued, 10 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Apr 22: Police rescued 42 bovine animals and arrested 10 smugglers at Khoon in Majalta and Bharat Nagar in Udhampur, here today.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that a Police Party led by SHO Majalta, Inspector Bharat Sharma, under the supervision of SDPO Ramnagar Jagdev Singh Slathia and SP Udhampur Rajinder Kumar Katoch, laid a naka at Khoon Majalta, Udhampur and intercepted four Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration number JK21E-2833, JK14D-6847, JK02BN-3079 and JK14E- 7698.
During search, 24 bovine animals were found loaded in these vehicles without any valid permission. Police rescued all the 24 bovine animals and arrested the accused namely Sham Din, son of Mohd Hanief of Batra, Jammu, Liaquat son of Ghulam Nabi of Dinga Amb, Kathua, Muzamil son of Ab Aziz of Batra, Jammu, Arshad Ahmed son of Mohd Iqbal of Mangloor, Kathua, Javid Ahmed son of Noor Illaihi of Kadyal, R S Pura Jammu, Mushtaq Ahmed son of Bedi of Dinga Amb, Kathua, Mohd Manzoor son of Hassan Din of Manzote, Udhampur and Mohd Sabar son of Hazi Ghulam Nabi of Mangloor, Kathua.
In this connection, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Majalta and further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, Udhampur police seized Tata Mobile No. 1182 JK03F at Bharat Nagar in Udhampur and recovered total of 18 bovine animals in two operations and arrested two bovine smugglers.
Arrested smugglers have been identified as Mukhtiyar Ahmad of Anantnag and Parvez Ahmad of Ghagwal, Samba.
Arrests were made by a police party headed by SHO Udhampur Inspector Vijay Choudhary under the supervision of Additional SP Udhampur, Rajinder Katoch and DySP Headquarters Udhampur Dr Rohit Chadgal.
