JAMMU, Apr 10: In a major crackdown on drug peddling, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Jammu district detained forty-two individuals during a surprise anti-narcotics operation named Clean-Up.
A police official said that the operation was carried out across various police stations and posts in the South Zone under the directions of the SSP Jammu and close supervision of SP City South, SDPO East, and SDPO South.
He said the drive targeted street-level drug traffickers and aimed to break the local supply chain.
Among those detained, six were apprehended by Gandhi Nagar Police Station, while fourteen were picked up by Police Post Narwal.
Similarly, Gangyal Police Station detained four persons, Satwari Police Station three, and Phallain Mandal Police Post five.
Police Posts Gadigarh and Nehru Market each detained three and two persons respectively, while Bahu Fort Police Station also booked two individuals.
Two more were detained by Police Post Digiana and one by Police Post Chatha.
All the individuals were booked under preventive provisions, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
Meanwhile, in a separate action, Police Post Bhatindi recovered a stolen motorcycle bearing registration number JK08L-7453.
The vehicle, valued at Rs 1.40 lakh, was linked to FIR number 116/2025 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Further, Police Post Greater Kailash seized two motorcycles for violating traffic norms. One vehicle was found without a number plate, while the other had a modified silencer.
Both were seized under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act as part of efforts to promote public safety and road discipline.
