432 surrendered militants getting Rs 2000 stipend: Veeri

JAMMU, Apr 7: Government today said that 432 surrendered militants are getting benefits under Rehabilitation Policy which includes Rs 2000 as monthly stipend and Rs 1.50 lakh immediate grants in the form of FDR.
Minister for Horticulture, Haj & Auqaf,  Abdul Rehman Veeri while replying on behalf of Minister incharge Home to a question of NC Member Ali Mohd Dar in the Upper House said that  432 cases of militants who have surrendered, have been provided benefits under the notified Rehabilitation Policy by the State Government.
He said under the Policy, every surrendered militant is entitled to immediate grant of Rs 1.50 lakh in the form of FDR and Rs 2000 as monthly stipend for three years after surrender. The policy is under implementation, the minister said.
Replying to another question of  Mr Dar, alleging that many surrendered militants are getting nothing, the minister said many are not coming out openly due to security threat. They may have their own compulsions. But if anybody comes forward, the Government is providing them this benefit under the policy.
