KATHUA, Aug 14: A joint team of Excise and Police Department today under the supervision of  Neeva Jain, SSP Kathua and Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Excise Commissioner, apprehended a truck bearing registration No. JK08D-8597 loaded with 4346 willow clefts.
According to Excise officials the vehicle reported at the Toll Post at 11:23 am  and as per the documents produced by the driver of the vehicle, it was loaded with “Almond Kernels” consigned by M/s Amrik Trading Company, Narwal Morh, Jammu to M/s Om Shiv Trading Company, Delhi, vide G.R. No.2002 dated 14.08.2015 through M/s Sarkaria Roadlines, Transport Nagar, Jammu. However, on physical checking, it was found to be loaded with willow clefts, they said. The driver tried to export willow cleft in the garb of Almond Kernels which is a Non-Tollable item. The driver of the vehicle had another set of documents depicting 3500 willow clefts consigned by M/s Gateway Sports Industries, Pulwama to M/s Arvinder Bat Industries Hatli More Kathua. The officials said prima facie, it seems that one set of documents was prepared to transport goods from Pulwama to Kathua, from where a different set of documents (for almond Kernels) was prepared for the purpose.  The driver of the vehicle tried to flee away from the spot but was apprehended by the active sleuths of Excise and Police.  The vehicle alongwith the goods (willow clefts) has been seized by the Police department. The joint team was headed by Joginder Singh Jasrotia ETO and Kuljeet Singh Dy. SP (DAR).
