SRINAGAR : As many as 44 new guests from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here while only four Kashmiris crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives, separated in 1947.
Sixty-six returnees also crossed sides at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC, in Uri sector, official sources said here today.
They said 44 PoK guests arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu,Peace Bridge on foot.
Six Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK, also returned to their homes after completing their stay with relatives across the LoC.
Sources said only four Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the LoC to meet their relatives, separated in 1947. However, 60 residents of POK, who were here, also returned to their homes after completing their stay in Kashmir.
The Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar-Muzaffarabad since April 7, 2005, despite threat by militant organisations, has helped thousands of families, divided during the partition, to meet each other. (AGENCIES)
