44th Foundation Day of Kisan Sabha celebrated

JAMMU, Jan 12: The 44th Foundation Day of Kisan Sabha was celebrated here today. In this regard a function was organised here in which farmers from different areas of Jammu Province participated.
On this occasion, Kisan Sabha, President of Hari Chand Jalmeria advocate was the chief guest.
Addressing the farmers, Jalmeria said that farmers are the backbone of India’s economy and the agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry require adequate attention and priority in planning. people connected with and dependent on agriculture comprise over seventy percent of India’s population. By and large there is lack of awareness and unity among the farming community which has resulted into their backwardness and exploitation since centuries.
He expressed concern over the growing unemployment among the rural youth and govt’s lack interest towards it.
Kisan Convention passed resolutions demanding creation of Billawar District, construction of Tunnel beneath Sundrikot to connect Billawar area with High Way at Kathua, another tunnel at Dehri Gala to connect Billawar area with Dgaggar-Bani.
Earlier, 15 member Committee of Kisan Sabha was constituted for Billawar District with Joginder Singh as President, Hari Chand Miyan, Bhagat Ram Sharma & Romal Singh as Vice presidents, Makhan Jamodia as Gen Secretary , Sharm Raj & Capt Dass as Secretaries and Jasbir Singh as treasurer.
Among others who addressed during the function included Chuni Lal Mistri (Lahri), Punnu Ram Jamodia (Baggan), Romal Singh (Kohag), Hari Chand Miyan (Seri), Joginder Singh (Mandli), Capt Vijay Singh (Dadwara), Bhagat Ram Sharma (Thara Kalwal), Raghubir Singh (Majalta), Sham Raj Thakur (Marhoon), Mahel Singh (Pallan), Makhan Jamodia (Baggan), Gurmeet Singh (Samba), Vicky(RS Pura). Rafiq Shah (Kupwara), Maqbool Malik (Magam), Ashfaq Rana (Poonch), Mohinder Andotra (Kathua), Dr Ghanisham Charak (Bishnah), Master Swaran Singh(Kanna Chhargal) and Com Natha Singh (Punjab).
The Convention observed two minutes silence to pay homage to Sagar Chand, Abdul Aziz, Amar Singh who participated in struggles of Kisan Sabha and left this world last year.
