JAMMU, Sept 9: About 300 kanals of forest land was retrieved in Rajouri area while 150 kanal in Marwah area of Kishtwar during two separate operations with the help of Police and Revenue officials by Forest department today.
Reports from Rajouri said that a Forest team led by DFO Rajouri, Anup Kumar Soni, assisted by Naib Tehsildar Akhtar Sehar, deputed by Dy Commissioner, Inspector FPF Jameel Choudhary and Police team organised anti-encroachment operation and cleared encroachment on nearly 300 kanals of Forest area in compartment No. 170 and 171 near village Badhoon in Kandi Range.
The team also dismantled eleven kutcha structures raised by the land grabbers in the area. The DFO through Range Officer Kandi Mr Latief had served notices to the land grabbers three times but they were not vacating the Forest land. The over all operation was conducted under the supervision of Conservator of Forests West Circle Jammu, Sameer Bharti, incharge Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi districts.
Meanwhile, report from Kishtwar said that a Forest team led by DFO Marwah Vijay Kumar cleared nearly 50 kanals of Forest land encroached upon in Compartment No. 3 Marwah near village Rarh by three villagers by raising bushwood fencing. The team assisted by RO Marwah Range after clearing this area also started the process for fencing. Another team led by Range officer Udil under the supervision of DFO cleared about 100 kanals of Forest land in compartment No. 103 in Udil Range near village Sumanvas.
The over all operation was conducted under the close supervision of M P Dogra, CF Chenab Circle.
