Srinagar: Security forces arrested a militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in Handwara area of North Kashmir today.
Police said that on a specific information one LeT militant namely Ashiq Ahmed alias Abu Haider was apprehended by Handwara Police and 21RR of army near Fruit Mandi crossing in Handwara.
Police said that huge cache of arms and ammunition is recovered from him which include one AK-47 rifle, 3 Magzines with live catrdiges, one Chinese Pistol with one Magzine, three Hand Grenades, one Magzine Pouch, one Map and one Haversack.
“On sustained interrogation he disclosed that he was a close associate of Abu Bakar a LeT Commander killed in Sopore few days back.
On further discloser the arreseted militant said that in near future he was planning to attack security forces convoy in Handwara area”, police said.
