47 bovine animals rescued, 6 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Mar 20: Foiling three separate attempts of bovine smuggling, Police today rescued 47 bovine animals and arrested six smugglers.
While 25 bovine animals were rescued during naka at NHW Flata and Tikri, 22 others were saved at Jakhani.
Reports said that acting on specific information, a Police party of PS Rehmbal, led by Insp Chaman Gorkha and Insp Jaswinder Singh (Incharge PP Tikri), under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, Dy SP Hqrs Udhampur, laid a naka at NHW Flats and Tikri.
During naka checking, Police intercepted five vehicles, bearing Registration number JK02CG- 9128, JK02AS- 4911, JK02AL -9296, JK02AE- 6596 and JK21B -2165.
During search, 25 bovine animals were found illegally loaded in these vehicles without any valid permission. All the bovine animals were rescued and the alleged smugglers were arrested on the spot.
They were identified as Nazir, son of Bilal Din of Ramban, Pargat Singh son of Joginder of Khanna, Ludhiana, Rashpal Singh son of Joginder Singh of RS Pura, Zonus Ali, son of Muzzafer of Rajouri, Lakhwinder Singh, son of Sudhagar Mal of R S Pura and Khair Din, son of Sharif Din of Katra.
In this connection, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at P/S Rehmbal and further investigation of the case is going on.
In another case, a police party of PS Udhampur intercepted a truck, bearing Registration Number JK02AQ- 4147 for checking at NHW Jakhani. During checking, 22 bovine animals were found illegally loaded in the truck. All bovine animals were rescued even as the driver managed to escape.
In this connection, a case FIR number 106/2021, under section 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Udhampur.
