47 families shifted from Dhamkund

JAMMU, Apr 6: While Batote-Kishtwar road was cleared today, 47 families have been shifted to the safer location at Dhamkund village, near Sangaldan on Gool road in district Ramban due to threat of major landslide.
Reports said that at Dhamkund near Chenab bank, Sawalakote Hydel Power Project authorities have been constructing road. With the blasting, major portion of the mountain has been damaged.  Now, huge cracks have started appearing in the large portion of the mountain and soil has started loosing. With the increasing fear among the people, about 47 families have shifted to the safer locations in last two days. Some families are taking refuge in local Govt Middle School.
SSP Traffic, National Highway Sanjay Kotwal told the Excelsior that Batote-Doda-Kishtwar road was restored at around 2 pm today. He said that all the stranded vehicles were cleared and truck with essential commodities were also allowed to move to the area this evening.
He further said that About 7000 vehicles including 5000 trucks have crossed towards Kashmir since last mid night. The major problematic area is at Peerha where 150 mt portion road has sunk. The single vehicle is plying at this portion. Tomorrow, there will be up convoy from Jammu and the  vehicles will also be allowed to ply towards Doda-Bhaderwah and Kishtwar.
