48th Annual National Conference of ISBTI held

JAMMU, Oct 9: The 48th Annual National Conference of Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology (ISBTI) TRANSCON-2023 held at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
The conference was held between 6 to 8 October. Dr Irm Yasmeen Prof & Head Blood Bank GMC Rajouri and Dr Navneet Kour Secretary General of Indian Society for Blood Transfusion & Immunohematology Jammu & Kashmir Chapter received the Award of Excellence for Donor Motivation at the conference.
Dr Meena Sidhu Prof & Head Department of Transfusion and Medicine & Chairperson ISBTI J&K Chairperson  ISBTI  gave her presentation and talk on the topic ,”infectious transmitted through transfusion , Challenges and remedies and chaired the session .
Dr T R Raina, Deputy President of National Body of ISBTI chaired various sessions. He also conducted Yoga camps for the delegates. He gave awareness on the importance of attaining 100% Voluntary blood donation through yogic way of life.  Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh Yogi Aditya Nath presided as the Chief Guest of the Conference and inaugurated it and appreciated the contribution  and achievements of ISBTI at National as well as at the Global Level. Awardees were awarded by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
Dr Taseer and Dr Deepshikha PG students of the Department of Blood Transfusion & Medicine also attended the Conference. Dr Kiran Sharma who has been one of the highest voluntary blood donors among the females of J&K was also present at the transcon.
Wide range of workshops for educating the latest research in the field of blood transfusion in addition there were new products highlighting the advanced technology being used in the field .
Dr T R Raina, Nirmal Sharma (Retd IAS) and Dr Navneet Kour along with the organisers led the rally with a team of Doctors for the awareness for voluntary single donor platelets Pheresis and motivated the Youth and encouraged them for voluntary blood donations.
