JAMMU, Sept 24: The 4th death anniversary of late Pandit Uttam Chand Pathak Shastri was observed by the Chudamani Sanskrit Institute, here today.
In this regard, a memorial gathering was organized by his son, Shakti Pathak, with the esteemed presence of the LG Manoj Sinha.
The esteemed guests including Mahant Rohit Shastri, intellectuals Vidhu Sharma, Sunil, Pawan Khajuria, and Abhiraj Sharma reflected on efforts to protect the Sanskrit language and Sanatan culture in Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Virendra Kumar Singh, Chief Scientist of the Central Mining and Fuel Institute, Dhanbad, emphasized Shastri Ji’s simple and dedicated Sanskrit-centered life.
In his address, Mahant Rohit Shastri said that the late Dr. Uttam Chand Shastri Pathak Ji and his family have made an indelible mark in the promotion and development of the Sanskrit language in India. His dedication to advancing Sanskrit in the nation is well recognized, with many of his students now holding prominent positions in state and central governments.”
He encouraged the youth to follow in Shastri Ji’s footsteps to contribute to the preservation of culture.
Special guest Pratap Kumar Singh, a propagator of Sanskrit Bharati and a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, discussed the numerous challenges faced by Shastri Ji and described him as a revered figure in the region’s Sanskrit tradition.
The programme concluded with a reading of the 15th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita by all attendees.
Among others who attended the event included, Commissioner Rakesh Minhas, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anil Kumar Thakur, former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, Principal, all teachers, staff and students of the institute.
