RAJOURI, June 24: The police claimed to have arrested five accused persons in connection with attack and alleged murder of a youth Ajaz Dar hailing from Thannamandi.
They were wanted in case FIR No. 408/2021 u/s 302/341/323/336/147/148 IPC and had gone underground after attack on Thannamandi youth at Muradpur, who was carrying bovine animal in a Tata Mobile vehicle during night hours, three days ago.
SSP Rajouri, Shamima Nabi Qasba said that Police on June 22, 2021, received information at Police Station Rajouri that one person namely- Ajaz Dar, son of Mohd Afzal Dar of Rajdhani, Thannamandi in district Rajouri was attacked by some persons near Muradpur, due to which he was injured and later died in Jammu hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the attack.
Based on this, an FIR was registered at Police Station, Rajouri and investigation was initiated.
Different police parties under the supervision of Addl SP Hqr, Vivek Shekhar, DySP Hqr – Vinod Sharma and I/C SHO Rajouri – SI Javed Manhas were deputed to search and apprehend the accused, the SSP said.
Qasba disclosed that on June 23, Rajouri police arrested four (04) of the accused persons, while one more accused was arrested today.
SSP further said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the supervision of Addl SP Hqr, Rajouri has been constituted for the investigation of this case. Further, legal proceedings in relation to this case are going on, Qasba added.
It may be recalled that young boy from Thannamandi area was attacked by a group of people when he was travelling in mini-load carrier along with a milch animal during intervening night of June 21-22. The mob suspecting him as bovine smuggler and pelted stone on vehicle and also severely beaten up the youth at Muradpur. He sustained serious injuries and was shifted to GMC Rajouri. The attackers escaped after the incident. The youth later succumbed to injuries in GMC Hospital, Jammu. The incident evoked strong protest by people at Rajouri and Thannamandi. They demanded immediate arrest of the accused persons and stern action against them. The police constituted SIT and arrested all the five accused persons.
