5 arrested, vehicles seized for illegal mining

SRINAGAR, Jan 20: Cracking down on illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, the police today seized five vehicles and arrested five persons in Baramulla.
Authorities stated that a police party, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs, Baramulla and assisted by SHO Baramulla & IC PP Delina, seized five vehicles (4 tippers, 1 tractor) and arrested five drivers involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Khanpora and Delina.
Police identified the accused drivers as Mohd Salam Ganie, son of Mohd Ashraf, resident of Lalad Sopore; Shabir Ahmad Gojree, son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of Drangbal; Umar Yousuf Sheikh, son of Mohd Yousuf, resident of Khanpora; Imran Bashir Malik, son of Bashir Ahmad, resident of Drangbal; and Javid Ahmad Sofi, son of Ghulam Ahmad, resident of Delina Ghat.
“Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at the Police Station and further investigations have been initiated,” police said.
