UDHAMPUR, Sept 11: Foiling bovine smuggling bid, Udhampur Police today rescued 5 animals and arrested two smugglers.
Based on an information, a Police party from Rehmbal Police Station, laid a surprise naka on the National Highway in the wee hours and intercepted one Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK02BC-3143.
Five bovine animals were found packed inside this vehicle, which was on its way from Jammu to Kashmir. Police rescued the animals and arrested both the accused smugglers namely Romesh Kumar of Slairh Kotti R.S Pura, Jammu and Munir Ahmed of Miran Sahib Jammu. The vehicle used for smuggling was also seized.
In this regard, a case under Section 188/RPC 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rehmbal.
