UDHAMPUR, Mar 23: A five-day course on “Investigation of Cyber Crime” began today at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur, with the aim of equipping investigating officers of J&K Police with the knowledge and skills to detect and investigate the growing cases of cybercrime.
The course has been designed to provide participants with knowledge and skills in understanding malicious code, computer viruses, SIM card analysis, CDR, SDR, tower dump analysis, computer forensics and window forensics, steganography, system hacking using Metasploit, cyber laws, hacking, phishing, email bombing, hijacking, web defacement, fake profiles, salami attacks, pornography, URL spoofing, identity theft, cyber stalking, and cyber bullying.
A press statement said that eminent guest speakers from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Katra, Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu, professionals from Cyber Police Station Jammu, Nayeem Abass Hamdani, Cyber Consultant, and faculty from SKPA, Udhampur will deliver lectures to the participants.
“Hands-on sessions are also arranged for the participants in the Cyber Lab of SKPA,” it said.
The inaugural function was organized at SKPA, and Rajinder Gupta, SSP, Deputy Director (Indoor Trainings), was the chief guest on the occasion.
He welcomed the participants on behalf of Director SKPA and gave an overview of cybercrime, including cyber bullying, stalking, online job fraud, online sextortion, phishing, ransomware, viruses, trojans, cyber-squatting, crypto-jacking, and espionage.
He also spoke about the ever-increasing frequency of crime in virtual space and the need to enable law enforcement officials to investigate cybercrime.
