SAMBA, Jan 13: District police Samba has arrested seven gamblers in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Bari Brahmana Police Station and recovered stake money of Rs 14,740 from their possession.
Acting on specific information about gambling, a police party of PS Bari Brahmana headed by PSI, Ashish Sharma raided the gambling spot at Sarore, Bari Brahmana and arrested two gamblers along with stake money of Rs 13,280 and playing cards. Both the gamblers have been identified as Ravi Sharma, S/o Ramesh Lal of Channi Kartholi, Bari Brahmana and Suresh Sharma, S/o Ram Krishan of Sarore, Bari Brahmana.
In another similar incident, a police party of PS Bari Brahmana arrested five more gamblers from Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana and recovered stake money of Rs 1,460/- along with playing cards. The gamblers have been identified as Parveen Kumar, S/o Dineshwar Kumar of Shahadara, Delhi at present Gangyal, Jammu, Mohinder Yadav, S/o Shiv Lal of Pathapur M.P. at present SIDCO Chowk, Bari Brahmana, Suresh Rakwar, S/o Dhani Ram of Chatterpur M.P, at present SIDCO Chowk, Bari Brahmana, Govardhan, S/o Babu Rakwar also of Chatterpur M.P. at present SIDCO Chowk, Bari Brahmana and Sourav Rakwar S/o Botu Rakwar, Chatterpur M.P. at present SIDCO Chowk, Bari Brahmana.
Taking cognizance of the matter all the gamblers were booked under Section 13 of Gambling Act at P/S Bari Brahmana.
Meanwhile, a police party of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal headed by SHO, Inspector Sudhir Sadhotra while performing patrolling duty in Nonath area intercepted a pedestrian near Petrol Pump, Nonath on suspicious grounds who tried to run on seeing police party.
The alert cops swiftly apprehended him and during his frisking 250 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession. The accused person who has been identified as Bashir Ahmed, S/o Haji Juma of Shangus Nowgam, Anantnag A/P Nonath (forest area) has been arrested and contraband item was also seized, police said.
In this regard, a case FIR No 03/2020 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started.
In another case Vijaypur police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered 45 grams of Charas at Naka Budwal Morh, Vijaypur.
As per reports a police party of Police Station, Vijaypur while performing vehicle checking at Naka Budwal Morh, Vijaypur intercepted a car bearing Registration No JK02V-1316 which was on way to Vijaypur. During the checking of the vehicle 45 grams of Charas was recovered from Pawan Singh, S/o Jagdish Singh of Penthi, Samba, (the driver of the car), Ravi Kumar, S/o Charan Dass also of Penthi Samba, Sachin Kumar, S/o Tiloo Ram of Pangoal Samba and Rohit Sambyal, S/o Yuvraj Singh of Kheri Mandi Samba. They were arrested and the contraband was seized.
In this regard a case FIR No 09/2020 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vijaypur and investigation started.
