JAMMU, Jan 16: Police arrested five drug peddlers along with cannabis and poppy straw.
As per police sources, a team from Police Station Gharota led by SHO Inspector Mahesh Sharma arrested three persons along with 1.5 kilograms of cannabis during checking at Kot and Kalri Pachbhati areas.
The arrested persons were identified as Sahil Mehra, son of Subash Chander of district Udhampur, Abhishek Dogra, son of Rakesh Kumar of Ustad Mohalla, district Jammu and Jagdev Raj, son of Chuni Lal of Kanger tehsil Bhalwal district Jammu.
Cases under FIR Numbers 4/2021 and 5/2021 under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Station Gharota and investigation started.
Meanwhile, during checking at Bharat road, a team from Police Post Dhar led by ASI Afsal under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Doda Jaswant Singh intercepted a motorcycle.
During checking, police team recovered 450 grams cannabis from the possession of one person and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Ayaz Ahmed, son of Mohammad Shafi, a resident of Udhyanpur district Doda.
The accused was carrying the consignment whereas his two accomplices namely Zubair Ahmed, son of Mohammad Shafi and Aijaz Ahmed, son of Habibullah, both resident of Udhyanpur district Doda managed to escape from the spot by jumping from the motorcycle.
A case under FIR Number 7/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation started.
In another incident, a team from Police Station Ramban during checking at Shan Palace intercepted a Santro car bearing registration number JK02 AC-9086.
During checking, police team recovered 19 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Rishav Kumar, son of Kamal Kumar of District Kathua.
A case under FIR Number 8/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation initiated.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Pardeep Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Rajinder Singh Chib, Additional SP Ramban Rajni Sharma and SSP Ramban Haseeb-ur-Rehman.
