JAMMU, Jan 9: Bahu Fort and Akhnoor Police arrested five drug peddlers and recovered opium and cannabis from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania laid a naka and intercepted an auto.
During checking, police team recovered 20 kilograms of opium from the possession of three persons travelling in the auto and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Dalabehera Mittu, son of Dalabehera Anand and Ambagambu Jayadev Dora, son of Ambagambu Agadhu Dora, both residents of Orissa and Sonu Kumar, son of late Dukhi Mehra, a resident of Bihar.
A case under FIR Number 13/2021 under Section 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar during checking at old bridge Akhnoor intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02CE-9242.
During checking, police team recovered 70 grams cannabis from the possession of two persons riding on the motorcycle and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Rohit Singh, son of Mukhtyar Singh of Ward Number 12 Supply Mohalla Akhnoor and Hera Singh, son of Amrik Singh of Ram Talai Mohalla Akhnoor.
A case under FIR Number 7/2021 under Section 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation initiated.
