JAMMU, Dec 15: Nagrota and Janipur Police arrested five drug peddlers and recovered poppy straw and heroin from their possession.
As per police sources, during checking a team from Police Station Nagrota led by SHO Inspector Vishav Partap Singh under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers PB11CJ-1681 and PB65C-4620 near TCP Nagrota.
During checking, police team recovered 126 kilograms poppy straw from the vehicles and arrested three persons, who were identified as Satwinder Singh, son of Labh Singh, Davinder Kumar, son of Daulat Ram and Raghbir Singh, son of Karam Chand, all residents of Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 455/2021 under Section 8/15/29/NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Janipur led by SHO Inspector Ajaz Haider under the supervision of SDPO West Rahul Nagar laid a naka and intercepted two persons, who were moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 17 grams heroin from the possession of both the persons and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Arun Sharma, son of Khem Raj Sharma and Ankaj Kumar, son of Om Parkash, both residents of Janipur Colony District Jammu.
A case FIR Number 128/2021 under Section 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation initiated.
