5 drug peddlers arrested with poppy straw, heroin, cannabis

JAMMU, Dec 27: Police arrested five drug peddlers along with poppy straw, heroin and cannabis.
According to Additional SP Kathua Ramnish Gupta, on specific information, teams of Anti Drug Unit Kathua and Police Station Rajbagh laid a naka at Dalhoti Morh and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB06D-2312.
During checking, police team recovered 26 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver along with his accomplice, he added.
The arrested persons were identified as Kulwant Singh, son of Ajit Singh and Paramjit Singh, son of Santokh Singh, both residents of Amritsar Punjab, he informed.
Additional SP Kathua Ramnish Gupta added that during checking at Londi Morh, teams of Anti Drug Unit Kathua from Police Station Hiranagar intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02CG- 2758.
“During checking, police team recovered 135 kilograms of poppy straw from the truck packed in apple boxes and arrested the driver, who was identified as Happy Kumar, son of Garu Ram, a resident of Sunder Chack, RS Pura District Jammu”, Additional SP Kathua stated.
Meanwhile, a team from Bakshi Nagar Police Station led by SHO Inspector Manjeet Singh on reliable information arrested a lady drug peddler along with 10 grams heroin.
The arrested lady was identified as Sudesh Kumari, wife of Subash Chander, a resident of Reshamghar Colony. She was involved in illegally selling of drugs to the youth of her area.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station Domana laid a naka on road leading to Nagbani and intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AE-9730.
During checking, police team recovered around 200 grams cannabis from the possession of the rider and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Ravi Kumar alias Laffa, son of Madan Lal of Chak Jaggar, Nagbani District Jammu.
Police team led by SHO Domana Inspector Chanchal Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Domana Kosheen Koul, SP Rural Sanjay Sharma and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Rajbagh, Hiranagar, Bakshi Nagar and Domana Police Stations and investigation started.
