KATHUA, Aug 24 :- In a major breakthrough against Narco smuggling menace, Police Station, Lakhanpur recovered 507 bottles of Wincirex while Police Stations of Rajbagh and Kathua seized 51.96 Kg of Poppy Straw.
A team of Police Station, Lakhanpur led by Inspector, Sanjeev Chib, SHO Police Station, Lakhanpur on naka checking duty at Golden Gate Lakhanpur intercepted a truck bearing Registration No. JK08B-2979 driven by Ashok Singh, S/O Govind Singh, R/O Lahari Kumari Kathera Kathua along with his associate namely Jodh Singh, S/O Mangal Singh, R/O Naili (Dhar Mahanpur) Kathua. During checking of said vehicle 507 bottles of “WINCIREX” Cough Syrup of 100/100 ml each were recovered, both the accused arrested and a case FIR No 76/2020 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS has been registered at P/S Lakhanpur. Further investigation is under process.
Moreover, a team of PS Rajbagh and PP Chadwal led by Inspector Bhopinder Singh, SHO PS and SI, Vikas Thappa incharge PP Chadwal on patrolling duty at NHW Kathua Jammu intercepted two gas tankers bearing Registration No. PB40W-1322 driven by Jaspreet Singh S/O Gurcharan Singh R/O Kokarn Batrian Moga Punjab, on checking of said vehicle police recovered 25 kg Poppy Straw.
In addition to this 9.96 kg of poppy straw also recovered from other tanker bearing Registration No PB46W-1314 driven by Sher Khan S/O Sadiq Mohd R/O Kokri Moga Punjab. Police arrested both the accused and case FIR NO. 152/2020 and 153/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Rajbagh. Further investigation is under process into both the cases.
In another police action, a team of Police Post Nagri led by SI Sandeep Charak, incharge PP Nagri intercepted a gas tanker bearing Registration No. PB46W-1316 driven by Satinder Singh, S/O Naginder Singh R/O Old Hoshiarpur road Lamba Pind Jalandhar Punjab. On checking of the vehicle police recovered 17 kg of poppy straw.
In this regard a case FIR No. 264/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Kathua. Further investigation is under process.
