5 gamblers nabbed in Baramulla

Srinagar, July 30: Police in Baramulla today arrested five gamblers and seized stake money amounting to over Rs 13,000 and playing cards from their possession.
Authorities said that while acting on reliable information regarding gambling activities, a police party headed by the Incharge Police Post Old Town Baramulla, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla, raided Azadgunj Baramulla.
“During the raid, five gamblers were arrested, and stake money of Rs 13,200 and playing cards were recovered from their possession,” police said.
As per police, they have been identified as Javid Ahmad Parray, son of Gh Ahmad, resident of Arampora; Kallu Sheikh, son of Azeem Sheikh, resident of Kalaroos Kupwara; Gh Nabi Gojree, son of Sonaullah; Abdul Hamid Dar, son of Ab Khaliq, both residents of Azadgunj; and Aijaz Ahmad Waza, son of Mohd Yousuf, resident of DK Marg.
“They have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Baramulla, and an investigation has been initiated,” police said.
