Srinagar, July 26: Police in Bandipora today said to have arrested 5 gamblers from a gambling site and seized stake money from their possession.
Acting on specific information, a police party from Police Station Sumbal under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal raided a gambling site at Trigam Shadipora
“They have been identified as Aarif Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Ahad, Azhar Mahmood Bhat son of Farooq Ahmad & Fayaz Ahmad Wagay son of Gh Mohd all residents of Trigam and Reyaz Ahmad Dagga son of Gh Qadir, Mukhtar Ahmad Mir son of Gh Mohd both residents of Shadipora,” police said.
Officers have seized stake money of Rs 7,230 and playing cards from the gamblers.
“They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, police said, a case vide FIR No. 93/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sumbal and investigation has been initiated.
