JAMMU, May 10: Following a group clash in the hostel canteen of Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jammu, last night, the college authorities have ordered suspension of five students.
The clash took place last night following a minor tiff between a student and an employee of the canteen contractor. In the clash, the canteen employee sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
As the matter was also brought into the notice of Police, senior Police officers visited the GCET campus. However, no case has yet been registered in this regard.
Meanwhile, the college authorities ordered immediate suspension of the student, who was accused of assaulting the canteen boy while four more students were suspended in the evening.
According to the GCET Principal, Dr Smeru Sharma, joint meeting of the College Disciplinary Action Committee and the Hostel Management Committee will be held tomorrow for deciding necessary action over the issue to ensure that such incident may not repeat in the campus.
