UDHAMPUR, July 4: Three minor boys among five persons were arrested after two videos went viral on social media wherein a woman was allegedly stripped in public and her nude pictures were uploaded on the social media.
Reports said a woman who basically hails from remote Panchari area and is presently residing in Krimchi area of Udhampur, could be seen in a video. Two clips of 1.37 minutes in the first and 16 seconds in other went viral amongst youths in the city.
“The video showed that the woman was being allegedly stripped by a gang of five to six persons and another Sikh youth could be seen in these videos . This Sikh youth was amongst the accused or had accompanied the woman to that place or tried to save her is being investigated”, said a police official.
“As we got the copies of the videos, we recorded the statement of the victim. An FIR has been finally registered today and five youth have been taken into custody. The other one is still absconding. One of them is from belt force.
“A woman was stripped in full public view by five to six persons in Jaganoo area of Udhampur. The accused caught the incident on mobile phone camera. It has gone viral on Whatsapp. A team of senior police officials headed by SSP is investigating the matter and no one will be spared. Special investigating team in this case is working day and night and all the accused will be arrested within hours ,” said Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Deputy Commissioner Udhampur.
He said the Police took cognizance of the incident and arrested five persons. One of the accused is believed to be an Army jawan.
Although two different versions of the incident are being investigated by the police, the first one says that the woman was riding pillion on a motorcycle. The gang intercepted the bike and started misbehaving with her. When she resisted, the accused overpowered her and stripped her in full public view, while the other version depicts that the woman was already there on the nallah side along with her boy friend, probably the Sikh youth in the video in a compromising position and a group of youths passing by took advantage of its and made the video in their mobiles.
Although police has not yet disclosed the identities of those arrested, reports confirmed that all of them are resident of Jaganoo block of Udhampur and three of them are minors.
