5 killed, 30 injured in Pak firing in Jammu, Poonch

JAMMU : At least five people were killed and 30 injured in Pakistani firing and shelling in Arnia sub-sector of Jammu, official sources said here today. They also violated truce along the Line of Control in Poonch by firing small arms and automatics. “At least five people, including three males and two females, were killed and 30 injured in cross-border firing in different bordering villages of Arnia Sub-Sector of Ranbir Singh Pura which lasted throughout the night,” the sources confirmed.
“Our troops effectively retaliated with similar caliber weapons,” they said, adding that intermittent fire was still in progress.
However, more details are awaited.
Pakistan also violated the ceasefire in Bhimber Gali sector area of Poonch this morning by firing unprovoked on forward Border Outposts and bordering villages. “It fired mortars, automatics,” the sources said, adding that equal and effective response is being given by Indian troops while the exchange of firing is still in progress.
A 16-yr-old girl was killed and four people were injured on October 3 in Pakistan firing on the Line of Control in Poonch district. Around 30 houses were also damaged in the incident.
After a month-long lull, Pakistan had violated the truce in Jammu’s Pargwal sector on October 2.
