5 labourers from Latti injured, one killed in Gujarat

JAMMU, Feb 17: In a tragic incident, some labourers from Latti area of Udhampur district were critically injured while one of them died when a lift collapsed in Bhavnagar area of Gujarat State, this afternoon.
The victims were loading grocery items when the lift collapsed resulting into on the spot death of two persons and injuries to several others.
One of the deceased was identified as Jagdev Singh, son of Hem Raj, resident of Majua-Pattan in Tehsil Latti of Udhampur district. The other deceased was reported to be a local of Gujarat.
Sharing the details, Sarpanch of Latti, Kasturi Lal Gupta told the Excelsior that the injured from his area included Mohan Lal, son of Dev Raj Sharma, Yash Pal, son of Deep Kumar, Ankit Kumar, son of Subash Chander, Ashok Kumar, son of Govind Ram and Kuldeep Kumar, son of Govind Ram.
“Around a dozen persons were purportedly injured in the mishap and the number of victims from our area is feared to be more as exact details are awaited,” said Gupta.
On getting news about the mishap, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, who represents Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha, spoke to MP Bhavnagar, Bhartiben Shivalik and enquired about the incident besides seeking proper medical treatment of the injured. “I am in touch with the local authorities and hospital management there,” he tweeted.
