Srinagar, Feb 22: The Drug Wing of the DFCO took action today, shutting down five medical shops in Baramulla and Kupwara districts of North Kashmir for violations.
According to officials, a team led by Assistant Drug Controller, Reema Gizala conducted surprise inspections in Pattan, Baramulla town, and the Handwara area.
During the inspections, five medical establishments were closed for failing to comply with licensing conditions, especially regarding the maintenance of records of scheduled drugs.
Chemists were instructed to ensure the installation of CCTV cameras, digitized billing, and proper record-keeping of scheduled drugs.
“The main goal of this operation is to ensure that Scheduled H1 drugs are dispensed only on prescriptions from registered medical practitioners,” officials stated.
Additionally, six statutory drug samples were collected to assess their quality.
Gizala emphasized the importance of a robust system, with nearly 95% of the shops already equipped with functional CCTV cameras.
