5 more wine shops booked in Jammu City for over-charging

JAMMU, May 18: The Excise Department team today booked five more wine shops at Gandhi Nagar, Satwari, Narwal, Gangyal and Residency Road in Jammu City for violation of license conditions/over-charging.
Official sources said that taking cognizance of public complaints that many wine shop operators/salesmen were over charging from the customers, Excise Commissioner, J&K, Pankaj Kumar Sharma, directed his staff including ETOs and Inspectors to conduct surprise inspections of the wine shops and take action in this regard.
A team led by Deputy Excise Commissioner, Executive, (Jammu) Kusum Sharma, comprising of ETO South Ankit Gupta, Inspector Sunil Sharma conducted surprise inspection at various wine shops at Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Satwari, Narwal and adjoining areas today. During inspection emphasis was laid on display of MRP and availability of digital mode of payment like, UPI.
During the surprise inspection, four wine shops- Yashpal Wine Shop, Shilpa Khajuria Wine Shop, Sumit Sudan Wine Shop and Aruna Kumari Wine Shop were booked Under Section 49 (b) of J&K Excise Act, 1958 by the team in Jammu South.
Another team led by ETO North, Jammu, booked Sudesh Singh Shan Wine Shop at Residency Road, in Excise Range North for over- charging/ violation of License conditions. These shops have been recommended for heavy penalty/fine to the Dy Excise Commissioner, Jammu.
The Excise Commissioner has appealed to the customers to use digital mode of payments at wine shops and in case of any violation immediately report to concerned Excise Officer so that immediate necessary action is taken against violators.
