DODA, Jan 14: In yet another fire incident, property worth lakhs were reduced to ashes in the devastating fire in which 5 residential houses-cum-shopping complexes comprising 9 shops were gutted at Goha area of Marmat in the district today afternoon.
According to the reports, 5 residential buildings-cum-shopping complexes comprising 9 shops came under mysterious blaze in main market of Goha in Marmat area.
The fire, which started at 1:15 pm, completely destroyed 5 residential buildings-cum-shopping complexes comprising 9 shops in main market.
After getting information, police team along with fire tenders rushed to the spot and with the help of locals doused the flames, but till then 5 residential buildings-cum-shopping complexes comprising 9 shops got completely damaged.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
According to eyewitnesses, a team headed by SP Operation Doda, Ravinder Pal Singh along with DySP Headquarters Doda Manoj Kumar and SHO Marmat Police Station SI Amrit Singh reached the affected area within half an hour and joined the rescue operation with the help of fire fighters, police, locals, Army and succeeded to brought the fire under control, which was spreading very rapidly as the residential houses and shops were located in densely populated market.
“The fire was completely extinguished and we are assessing the losses”, said SP Operation Doda, Ravinder Pal Singh, adding that preliminary reports suggest that the fire broke out due to the short circuit in one of the residential house followed by gas cylinder blasts.
“I have taken up the matter with DDC Doda Anshul Garg and priority of the administration is to provide the relief to the effected families and to rehabilitate them as soon as possible”, he added.
Marmat police has taken the cognizance of the incident and started investigating.
Meanwhile, DC Doda Anshul Garg issued basic essentials to victim families including 4 tents, 50 blankets, Tarpolin, Ration at Rs 5 kg per affected family, 10 solar lights and 10 kitchen sets has. These items were distributed by Tehsildar Marmat. In addition, cash assistance of Rs 10,000 per family will be provided to affected families from District Red Cross Society.
Meanwhile, Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS in PMO talked to the Deputy Commissioner Doda Anshul Garg soon after the incident.
In the tweet, Dr Singh appreciated the local administration for their prompt response and intervention, which brought the situation under control and prevented any loss of life.
It is pertinent to mention here that 3 residential houses-cum-shopping complex comprising 7 shops were gutted in fire at Kahara area of Doda during the intervening night of January 12 and 13.
