Srinagar, Aug 22: A massive fire broke out today in the Nudresh Colony-A of the Bemina area of Srinagar in which five residential houses owned by the 10 families were gutted.
As per details, a fire broke out from one of the houses around noon and engulfed nearby six houses in a jiffy. The fire tenders and locals tried hard to stop the fire from spreading further but failed.

The officials of the Fire & Emergency Services told Excelsior that 5 residential houses, double/three storied, all GCI sheet roofed annexed with each other were involved in the fire.
“The cause of the fire is under police investigation and in the incident roofing along with doors; windows, matting and household goods of the upper storey of four residential houses were severely damaged,” officials said.
They said that the property involved in the fire was worth Rs 2.5 cr while as per the initial survey, the property worth Rs 60 lakh has been damaged
In the incident, the joint house of Ghulam Qadri Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohd Sheikh resident of H No. 165, Nudresh Colony A , Bemina, Mohd Maqbool Bala son of Ghulam Nabi Bala resident of HNo 164, Nudresh Colony A Bemina, Tariq Ahmed Bala son of Ghulam Nabi Bala resident of HNo 164, Nudresh Colony A, Bemina, Nasir Ahmed Farooqi son of Abdul Ahad Farooqi R/o 163, Nudresh Colony A, Bemina, Abdul Ahad Lone son of Gh. Qadri Lone resident of 162, Nudresh Colony A, Bemina, Parveena Akther D/o Ab Ahad Lone resident of 162, Nudresh Colony A, Bemina have been damaged completely
In this regard, the police have registered a case under the relevant sections to ascertain the actual cause of the fire while the district administration of Srinagar has also sent the revenue officials to assess the damage to the property.
