SRINAGAR, Jan 21: At least five residential houses and five shops were gutted in a fire incident in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district today.
The president of Sopore Traders Federation, Muhammad Ashraf Ganai said that the fire started at around 3 am today from the house of Ghulam Muhammad Dagoo which later spread to other houses and shops at Chotta Bazar in Shahabad area of the Town.
Ganai said though the Fire men were called on time but delay in their arrival led to gutting of other structures.
The trade body president said the shops of Basher Ahmad Malik, Hamzullah Wani, Nazir Ahmad Khan, Shabir Ahmad Kabli, Ashiq Hussain Wani were gutted in the fire incidents.
He said the affected families, whose house got gutted, include of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, Javed Sheikh, Muhammad Shafi, Master Muhammad Yaqoob, Farooq Ahmad Kachroo, Fehmeeda, Niyaz Ahmad Kacho.
The trade body president demanded Government to compensate the affected families.
