RAJOURI, Dec 18: Acting on the directions of the Transport Commissioner, the ARTO Rajouri team conducted a rigorous road checking drive today at Panja Chowk in Rajouri town to ensure compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act and related rules.
The initiative aimed at curbing traffic violations and promote road safety across the hilly district.
During the operation, a total of 60 vehicles were thoroughly inspected. Out of these, 21 vehicles were found violating various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and were e-challaned. The expected amount from the e-challans is approximately Rs 42,000.
Additionally, five vehicles were seized for serious violations, including two motorcycles without High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP), two vehicles with tampered number plates and an e-rickshaw being driven by a minor.
The enforcement drive, led by ARTO Rajouri, Pawan Sharma, focused on the Muradpur stretch of the Rajouri-Poonch National Highway. Speaking on the initiative, he emphasized the importance of adherence to traffic regulations and reiterated the department’s commitment to ensuring road safety through regular enforcement drives.
