RAMBAN/DODA, Apr 11: Union Minister and BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Parliamentary constituency Dr Jitendra Singh said today that one of the major achievements has been that the 5 years’ development, accomplished during his Parliamentary term, is evident in every household of the Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency.
Addressing a series of well attended election meetings at some of the far-flung areas of Gool, Gandoh and other spots in Ramban and Doda districts, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it was during these five years that a free cooking gas cylinder under Ujjwala Yojana reached virtually every needy household, regardless of any vote-bank consideration. The list of the beneficiary households in the constituency is available for anybody to check, he added.
Substantiating his point, while speaking at Gool, Dr Jitendra Singh said, even though in 2014 election, BJP did not get a lead of votes from this segment, but it is only in the last five years that a Degree College and a Sports Stadium were provided over here form Central Funds amounting to nearly Rs 35 crores.
In addition, he said, a Kendriya Vidyalaya was also approved for Gool. He asked people to ponder why the earlier Congress representatives whom you elected with comfortable margins never considered such projects for this remote hilly area. Similarly, while speaking at Gandoh, he reminded the people of the first-ever Post Office and first branch of State Bank of India opened here only during the last five years.
Under the “Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana” of rural electrification, Dr Jitendra Singh said that virtually every village in the constituency which was un-electrified before 2014, has now been electrified. The data is available on record and there are also video evidences of some of the very elderly women in remote hilly villages expressing their overwhelming excitement on having seen an electric bulb for the first time in their lives.
Similarly, under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana, during the last five years, most of the Kachha houses have been reconstructed into concrete houses and this can be verified from the records available in the office of each of the Deputy Commissioners where even the photographs showing the Kachha house before, and Pakka house now are placed in the file, because that was part of the guidelines issued.
The “Ayushman Bharat” health insurance scheme, Dr Jitendra Singh said, which was first launched in the Udhampur district and later followed by other districts, also carries visual evidence of videos uploaded on the social media, wherein some of the cancer patients have described this scheme as a Godsend blessing, because this is possibly the first health insurance scheme in the world where the provision is available even to insure a person who is already suffering from a serious ailment.
As far as infrastructural development in the constituency is concerned, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the number of national projects, first-of-its-kind projects, Centrally-funded roads and building projects and Centrally-funded educational institutions initiated in the constituency during the last five years are so many that it is difficult to even count them in a brief span of time.
During these well-attended meetings where people responded with huge enthusiasm, Dr Jitendra Singh was accompanied by senior BJP leaders, office bearers, former MLAs Dalip Singh Parihar and Neelam Langeh, local Sarpanches\, Panches and other activists.
