Srinagar, Jan 29: A five-year-old died today at the Paediatric Hospital here, allegedly due to the medical negligence of the doctors.
In this regard, the family members of the deceased staged a protest, alleging that the doctors, lacking the necessary experience, were handling their son’s case.
The family, hailing from the Chadoora area of district Budgam, alleged that their son, Ehsan, was “killed,” and timely intervention was not done to save his life. “Our son died due to the sheer negligence of the doctors,” the family members said.
It is to be noted that the patient was undergoing treatment for acute pneumonia in the hospital for nearly a month and had other underlying medical conditions, for which he had already undergone surgery.
After that, he was referred from SMHS for specialized treatment at the Paediatric Hospital.
It has come to the fore that the family members have not approached the concerned administration of the hospital to record their doubts so that an inquiry is carried out in this regard.
However, the officials told Excelsior that the Head of the Department, Paediatrician, Dr. Muzaffar Jan, has taken cognizance of the matter so that the circumstances leading to the death of the kid are ascertained.
“The matter will be looked into, and if there is an element of negligence, due action as per the defined rules will be taken,” the official said.
