This has reference to the article ‘ITBP to create 50 new posts, deploy 8000 troops’ DE Oct 28.
The move initiated by the Government is going to strengthen the defence of our border with China. It has become necessary in view of the Chinese presence in the region and its expansionist designs.
The presence of such a force does not mean that India is adopting an aggressive posture in the region. India believes in friendly relations with all its neighbours. It has always extended hand of friendship. There is not a single instance where India has been involved in violating border. Rather India has faced incursions from China time and again. India has every right to defend its borders, and protect sovereignty. In this context Indo-Tibetan Border Police Director General Krishna Chaudhary has rightly said, “we must not become war mongers. The objective is peace, and not to fight a war ”.
