500 cft of popular wood seized

KATHUA, Dec 16: Sleuths of Anti Polythene Check Post, Lakhanpur have seized 630 bundles of Poplar wood sawn (500 cft) from a truck bearing Registration Number JK05H/3699 which was coming from Pattan in North Kashmir district of Baramulla and destined to Batala Punjab.
As the truck reached near the Check Post it was stopped and put to physical checking. It was found to be loaded with poplar wood sawn 630 bundles/500cft. The truck along with poplar wood sawn loaded therein was intended to be smuggled outside J&K and thus seized as per the Section 52(1) for the violations of Sections 2(4)(a), 41, 42 and 69 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927.
The whole operation was carried out by Munish Gupta Range Forest Officer, Rajnish Bhagat Forester, Arun Bhatti I/C Forester and Ravi Kumar Forest Guard under the close supervision of Rahul Singh, DFO Kathua.
